From Utrecht, Netherlands We just made it to the shuttle in time to catch the 2 o'clock shuttle to the airport. There was a *huge* line at the airport, even though the plane wasn't leaving until 8.30. They didn't search our luggage, but they made us check our bags because they supposedly weighed too much. I think they screwed us on that because there were people with bigger, obviously heavier luggage, and like 5 cargo luggages to check as well. The plane ride was pretty miserable for the most part. We were packed in like sardines. Daryl's headset for the in-flight TV/Radio didn't work. The seats were so small we could barely fit, and when the people in front of us put the seats back, it banged our knees. The movies for the first couple hours were pretty crappy (choice between prison movie, war movie, or indian movie), and it was almost impossible to sleep. On the plus side, the food was excellent, a small salad, bread and butter, cheese and crackers, a really yummy lamb curry on rice, apple tart, water, soda, and coffee or tea, plus we got a breakfast an hour or so before the end of the flight that was a roll, croissant, yogurt, orange juice, and coffee or tea, and the flight attendants were nice. Our luggage arrived with no prob, and we caught the next train out from Amsterdam to Utrecht and made it to our hotel with no problem once we stopped and got a map from a Best Western outside the train station. It was a little farther than I thought, but not too bad except we're both pooped since we've had next to no sleep in over 24 hours. Our rooms not ready for another hour, so we're going to store our luggage and go grab something to eat. The place certainly isn't a hotel, but it's a cute little coffee-shop looking place, like the coffee shop over by Belmont in Nashville that's in a little house. We haven't seen our room yet, but it's gotten good reviews. That's all for now. We're beat and hungry.

Trip Well, the house is tidied and we're ready to go. We're leaving tonight for the ride to Chicago and our plane leaves Thursday night. By Friday morning we'll be there. My husband and I will be putting up pictures on our websites while we're there, so keep an eye on our sites.

An unnamed 28-year-old man without a criminal record was arrested in Milwaukee, Wisconsin after writing to Dear Abby for advice. The man wrote that he'd been fantasizing about having sex with pre-teens, especially his girlfriend's 10- and 3-year-old daughters. Obviously, he was uncomfortable with his fantasies and wanted help. Abby, the dear, helped by contacting the Milwaukee Police. Who dutifully visited the man at his home. He acknowledged writing the letter but denied acting on his fantasies. Ever cooperative, the man allowed the police to search his computer. Where they found 40 pornographic pictures involving children. So they arrested him.

Isn't it just great knowing that a man coming to someone for help, acknowledging that he has a problem, is now being treated like a criminal and the only help he'll be getting is from the officers "helping" him into jail? Man, what a bitch.

Trip For those of you that already know it from reading my husband's page, we're going on a two-week trip to the Netherlands at the end of the month. Daryl saved up for it without letting me in on it, and surprised me with it. We're planning on each going with only one carry-on sized bag. We got our bags at Walmart. They're backpacks with rollers. The telescoping handle is on the outside of the bag with a thick padding over the bars for when it's on your back, and there's a little elastic cover attached at the bottom of the padding for come out over the rollers when you want to wear it on your back. I've been having tons of fun buying bitty sized stuff to take with us, and rolling up clothes and things and putting them in my bag. I never would've thought that I could take everything I want in one backpack sized bag, but I already know that I'll be proud of myself when I do. We've already spent way too much, but there's not really anything I can think of anything that we didn't need. Two websites have been very helpful in picking what to pack: The Travelite FAQ and The Compleat Carry-On Traveler.
