Stupid Thing... My web hosting company has been fooking around with their servers lately and I haven't been able to make an update in ages. Even as I type this... I have updates sitting out there in space, but can't publish them. Of course, I can't publish this either... but eventually when I get everything sorted, it'll be there at least...

Tuesday Twosome Well as I said below, it's 3 am, and I'm bored. So from a lack of anything else to do, and recently having found the Memes list... here's the Tuesday Twosome.

Internet...
1. Your internet connection: DSL or dialup? DSL baby!
2. Daily: How much time do you spend on your computer working? What is this work that you speak of? Well, I pretend to work for four hours at my job.
How much time do you spend on the internet? Too much. Easier to ask how much time I don't spend on the internet.
3. Have you met someone on the internet? And if so, have you met in person? Many people. Before and after getting married. The most important of which was... my husband!
4. Emails: When you receive a humorous or pointless email from a friend, do you pass it on or "the emails dies at my inbox"? Given the choices... the email dies at my inbox. But usually it dies before it even reaches my inbox, since I use a "mailwasher" to browse through headers and filter out spam and junk before I even download it.
5. Pop-up ads: Annoying or "I ignore them so it doesn't bother me."? Again, given the choies... I ignore them so it doesn't bother me. But I don't really ignore them... I just don't get them. I use the Google toolbar, which has the lovely feature of blocking popups.

Tuesday Twosome Your Blog!
Blarg *sigh* It's 3 in the morning and I can't sleep. This normally wouldn't be a problem, since usually I'm not even in bed yet. But this morning I have to be up at 5:45 to get ready and take my dad in for a colonoscopy. I tried to sleep. I had every intention of going to bed early. I had a nice cup of hot milk with a dash of honey. I curled up in bed. And I lay there. Wide awake. This sucks. And I know if I go to bed now, at 3 am... I'm going to be even more tired when I would be waking up at 5:45. So I guess now I'll stay up. I took the day off of work at least, since I knew I'd be bitchy having to wake up at 5:45. But now I'm kinda tired and want to go to sleep. Blarg.

Erm... Memes? Okay so maybe I'm a little slow. I was wondering if there were any other Friday Five type things out there, and someone assembled a list of them. I've looked for one before, but I never had any results. Apparently, I was looking for the wrong terms. I should've been looking for a meme! Apparently for bloggers, a meme is an idea passed around, from the Greek word for an action repeated from one mind to another or something. Well, I guess I have no excuse for not ever posting anything. Oh well.

The Memes List
Fri5 Hah, and on time as well. I don't know why anyone at all would be interested in these questions today, but whatever, eh.

When was the last time you...
1. ...went to the doctor? A couple of months ago when I got really sick. I had a viral infection in my throat and a bacterial infection as well. Yuck.
2. ...went to the dentist? For myself? Like 5 years ago, heh.
3. ...filled your gas tank? Wednesday.
4. ...got enough sleep? It never seems like I get enough sleep when morning comes around, but I usually do get enough sleep. It just doesn't feel like it. I got 8 hours last night.
5. ...backed up your computer? i haven't backed up my current computer at all. I mean, it's 60 gig and it's full. I wouldn't even know how to go about backing all of that up.

Data! I saw the ST:TNG episode today where Data tries his hand at composing poetry. It's been a long time since I've seen this one. Data's poem written about his cat makes me giggle every time I hear it. Since it amuses me to do so, I'm posting for my own benefit, Data's "Ode to Spot".

Felis Catus is your taxonomic nomenclature,
An endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature.
Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.
I find myself intrigued by your sub-vocal oscillations,
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.
A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents:
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counter-balance.
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.
Oh Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array,
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend
I none-the-less consider you a true and valued friend.

*sniffles* Isn't that sweet.
Bah Sorry about the lack of posts. Apparently my server decided to up and change the ftp path to upload to my site, and the directory path my site was on. Woo. Finally was able to figure it out and fix my blogger so I can post again. Go me.

Fri...er... Monday 5
1. Are you superstitious? No not really. If I do something in the name of superstition, it's just for laughs. Like when I was a kid, my grandmother always said it was bad luck to spill salt, and if you did you had to take a pinch and throw it over your shoulder. I figure, doesn't hurt anything, so why not.
2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition? I've heard of people not wanting to do certain things because it's bad luck. Nothing exact comes to mind. I just keep thinking about the episode of Drew Carey where Mimi had an obsessive compulsive disorder and had to do anything that was suggested to her or it would bring bad luck, so she had to turn around 3 times and cluck like a chicken before answering the phone or something like that.
3. Believer or not, what's your favorite superstition? When I was in high school, it was common for people to tell you to "make a wish" is the clasp on your necklace hit the charm. You're supposed to kiss them, make your wish, and return the clasp to the back of your neck. Robbie still does that to me sometimes.
4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual? Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It's probably all just coincidence, but I don't know.
5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not? No. It's just something rather fun. I find it incredibly hard to believe that the course of the stars in the sky can tell me the course of my life according to when I was born. And what about the people born the same day is me? Do we lead similar lives? Or the same month? Astrology in the newspapers goes by the month you were born. So when it says I'm, say, meeting a tall, dark, handsome stranger that will sweep me off my feet... does that mean I should go out and leave my husband? Don't think so. On the other hand, I'm not the kind of person to say that astrology is evil or whatever. I'll read it in the paper or whatever for shits and giggles, but that's about it.

Margaret Cho My husband's website is now being linked to by one of our favourite comediennes, Margaret Cho. I think that's so cool! And I'm so jealous. :P On a similar note, Margaret said in her blog, "Bill Hicks is the one comic I wish we had right here right now, we could use his help..." and I must whole-heartedly agree. We could use his wit and wisdom.

Fri5... A Day Late
1. What's the most daring thing you've ever done? Wouldn't you like to know...
2. What one thing would you like to try that your mother/friend/significant other would never approve of? My mother would never approve of the shrooms I want to try next trip to the Netherlands.
3. On a scale of 1-10, what's your risk factor? (1=never take risks, 10=it's a lifestyle) Ummm.... 5 I guess. I don't know. Or less even... like a 3. Depends on the risk, I suppose.
4. What's the best thing that's ever happened to you as a result of being bold/risky? Nothing spectacular comes to mind. Well... unless you consider meeting someone off the internet risky. I know my mother does. If you do, then the best thing that happened to me was meeting my husband and getting married.
5. ... and what's the worst? Again, if you consider meeting someone off the internet risky, This one guy I met... I won't go into, it but he was definitely the worst. :-P
